**** Pink Floyd -- Is There Anybody Out There?
Official, high quality release of The Wall, done live at Earl's Court in 1981. Coming on the heels of the DVD release of the movie earlier this year, one is reminded that The Wall is largely a visual event. While there's a lot of great music here, it doesn't vary to any great extent from the studio versions (a lot of the studio version is actually present as taped interjections at any rate). I suppose that at some point, a video recording of this show, or another taken during the tour, will appear, and I'll be much more interested in that. In the meantime, Roger Waters 'The Wall -- Live In Berlin is a pretty good option to get a feel for the visual impact of the Wall concept. This two CD release includes a hard cover book with notes by all of the particulars involved (including, surprisingly, Richard Wright).
