** Bruce Springsteen -- Greatest Hits
One of the first purchases I made from the Columbia House Record and Tape Club, way back in the late 70s, was "Darkness on the Edge of Town" by Bruce Springsteen, who I came to through Patti Smith. I liked that album, then got a tape of Born to Run to blast through my car speakers as I hurled down the freeways of Minneapolis (hey, I was in high school!) Aside from those two albums, I was never again fond of Springsteen, with two exceptions -- "Nebraska", and a couple of songs on "Born in the USA" that made such an impression, I don't remember what they were (although I CAN tell you that they aren't represented here). I got this at the behest of my wife, who likes this kind of stuff, but aside from the early tracks where Bruce rocks (ie: "Born to Run", "Thunder Road", and "Badlands") I can live without this.
